CHARLOTTE, N.C., and BANGOR – Roy C. Daigle, 69, formerly of Bangor, died May 15, 2007, in Charlotte, N.C. He was born July 27, 1937, in Fort Kent, son of the late Cecile and Raoul Daigle. Roy grew up in Patten and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1964. After his military service, he attended the University of Maryland. He spent most of his career developing and managing retail and mall properties. Roy retired in 2000 from Kravco Co., for whom he built and operated the Bangor Mall in Bangor for 23 years. Roy was interested and active in politics, serving as a youth member of Hartford City Council in 1955. He was the former mayor of Washington Grove, Md., and later ran for the Maine House of Representatives in 2000. Roy was active in Bucksport Baptist Church, Bucksport; Pilgrim Presbyterian Church, Bangor; Antioch Baptist Church, Cleveland; and Crossway Community Church, Charlotte, N.C. Roy was an avid golfer, but he was most passionate about his family. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Jefsen Daigle; son, Richard and his wife, Brenda and their children, Chelsea, Joshua and Jason, of Dixmont; son, Jeremy and his wife, Jennifer and their children, Hayden, Conner and Lauren, of Bucksport; and daughter, Melanie Hileman and her husband, Steven and their children, David, Micah and William, of Orland; brothers, Ron Daigle of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Rocky Daigle of Vernon, Conn.; his beloved Aunt Lorina Culpepper; Aunt Theresa Stuter; and Cousin Susan Morrison; and his former wife of more than 20 years, Blanche Daigle Buzzel. He was predeceased by brothers, Richard and Roger. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at Evangelical Baptist Church, 16 Central St., Bucksport, with Pastor Michael Donato officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the church gymnasium after the service. Interment will be at Crystal Cemetery, Crystal, after the reception.
