DOVER-FOXCROFT – Ronald Wilfred Engstrom, 60, beloved husband of Sandra (Sweet) Engstrom, died April 1, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 1, 1946, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Edward Lewis and Alma (Marshall) Engstrom. Ron graduated from Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1965, and married Sandy on May 20, 1967. He served with the U.S. Army Reserves from 1966-1972. Ron was highly respected for his logging and sawmill talents. He passed this tradition and his love for the land on to his son Jerry. They had recently built another sawmill, which he planned to run with Jerry when he retired from McKusick Petroleum, where he had worked for the past seven years. Ronnie had a great appreciation for life and his sense of humor touched everyone. He lived life to its fullest. His generous nature and loyalty to his customers was admired and respected by all who knew him. Above all, Ronnie’s love for his family came first in his life. As a dad, he had a special love for his son and daughter and maintained a close relationship with them throughout his life. Papa was very close to his four grandsons and always found time to share their happy and sad times. Most of all, his wife Sandy was his one true love. Soul mates for almost 40 years, their love and friendship was very special. All who knew Ron are blessed and he will truly be missed and remembered. He is survived by his wife, Sandy of Dover-Foxcroft; his son, Jerry E. Engstrom and his wife, Wanda; his daughter, Bridgett E. Ireland and her husband, Dan; four grandsons, Joel and Joshua Engstrom, and Spencer and Jacob Ireland, all of Dover-Foxcroft; his father, Edward L. Engstrom of Dover-Foxcroft; his brothers and sisters, Barry Engstrom, Judith Edgerly and her husband, Charlie, Stephen Engstrom and his wife, Pat, Ellen Tucker and her husband, Rick; his brothers-in-law, Robert White and his wife, Dolly, Martin Castimore and his wife, Marlene, Guy Sharrick; many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by special friends, Dave and Stephanie Demore. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, with Pastor David Mumford officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery.
