FORT KENT – Roland R. Toussaint, 81, died peacefully Feb. 16, 2008, at a Fort Kent health care facil-ity. He was born July 2, 1926, in Soldier Pond, the son of Joseph and Modeste (Chasse) Toussaint. Roland was a member of American Legion Soucie Smart Post No. 176, Eagle Lake. He was a potato grower for 25 years. Roland and Emelda owned and operated Clover Hill Lodge and Campground that they built from the ground up for 20 years, which had 415 family memberships. Roland will be remembered as always lending a helping hand, Jack of all trades, and was known throughout New England for his 75 miles of snowmobile trails, which he maintained. Roland was the last living uncle on both sides of his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Emelda (Ouellette) Toussaint of Fort Kent; 10 children, Norman Toussaint and his wife, Suzzane, of Eagle Lake, Donald Toussaint and his wife, Kathy, of Denham, Del., Ronald Toussaint of Eagle Lake, Daniel Toussaint and his wife, Debbie, of Madawaska, Lori Day of Augusta, Anita Dunn of Princeton, Va., Lena and her husband, Marcel Sirois, of Gardner, Bertha and her husband, Louie Toussaint, of Madawaska and Rella and her husband, Larry Poulin, of Augusta; and a nephew they took in like a son, Kenneth Ouellette and his wife, Donna, of Eagle Lake. He was treasured by his many nieces and nephews. In addition to both his parents, he was predeceased by 20 brothers and sisters, Roland being the youngest one. Friends may call noon until time of service Thursday, Feb. 21, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with full military honors will be celebrated 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent.
