PORTLAND – Roger Kenneth Sibley Sr., 59, resident of Orchard Street in Portland died Monday, July 5, 2004, at his residence following a long illness. He was born Dec. 29, 1944, in Old Town, a son of Benjamin and Gertrude (Pond) Sibley. Mr. Sibley was raised in Old Town and graduated from high school there. He moved to Portland where he lived for many years before relocating to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he lived for several years before returning to Portland in 1998. He was employed for 20 years at Sebago Shoe Company where he worked in many different capacities over his many years there. He enjoyed watching movies, listening to music and reading. He especially enjoyed spending time in the sun at the beach. He was predeceased by two brothers, Wesley and Fredrick Sibley. He is survived by one daughter, Sherry Levesque of South Portland; two sons, Randy S. and his wife, Lori Sibley, of Lewiston, and Roger K. Sibley Jr. of South Portland; two brothers, Woodbury and his wife, Beverly Sibley, William and his wife, Debbie Sibley; and one sister, Donna and her husband, Gene Johnson, all of Old Town; a sister-in-law, Sharon Sibley of Winterport; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. A remembrance gathering will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, July 9, at the family residence, 33 Coolidge Ave., South Portland. A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday in the Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Peabody House, 14 Orchard House, Portland, ME 04102 in Mr. Sibley’s memory.
