WINTERPORT – Rodney Lawrence Giddings, 70, died Oct. 24, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 7, 1936, in Bangor, the son of Harvey Lee and Hilda J. (Dickinson) Giddings. Rodney attended Bangor schools and retired from the Bangor Daily News, after more than 40 years. In more recent years, he owned and operated the County Bargains Store, Winterport. Rodney and his wife, Doris enjoyed flea markets and Christmas auctions. Rodney loved his family and friends. Surviving, in addition to his mother, Hilda Giddings of Bangor, are his wife, Doris (Ducharme) Giddings of Winterport; two daughters, Karen Davis and her husband, Rodney, of Massachusetts and Bonita Perry of Brewer; five grandchildren, Danny, Joey, Trina, Rachel and Robert; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Giddings of Bangor; a sister-in-law, Rita Giddings of Saco; nieces and nephews; three special friends, Pat, Mark and Gregg. He was predeceased by his father, Harvey L. Giddings; and a brother, Harvey L. Giddings Jr. At Rodney’s request, services and interment will be private.
