BANGOR – Robert James Beckwith, with the love and support of his family by his side, passed away quietly March 9, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born May 19, 1946, in Greenville, the son of Glenwood Sr. and Lucy (Gagnon) Beckwith, who both predeceased him. Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Victoria; their sons, Cory Beckwith and partner, Jay Serrano, of Portland, Ryan Beckwith and wife, April, of Bangor and Sabin Beckwith and partner, Chad Hamilton, of Portland; daughter-in-law, Michelle Beckwith of Bucksport; a son, Russell Beckwith of Cambridge; a daughter, Rebecca and husband, Bruce Wyman, of Bangor; a sister, Nancy Murphy of Abbot; brothers, Thomas Beckwith and long time partner, Sandra King, of Greenville and Glenwood Beckwith and wife, Theresa, of New York, nine grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, a nephew and two brothers-in-law. Bob, a Vietnam veteran, will be sadly missed by his family, fishing buddies and the many friends he made in the taxi community. Bob was a firm believer that people should heal and move on, and would be happiest to be remembered by a visit over coffee with his family 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at their home, 144 Bolling Drive, Bangor. A celebration of his life will be held later in the spring, which will be announced, in Abbot at the home of his sister. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bob’s memory to CancerCare of Maine, care of Eastern Maine Charities, P.O. Box 404, Bangor, ME 04402.
