ORRINGTON – Rita E. Bradbury, 96, wife of the late Charles Bradbury, died Feb. 24, 2008, surrounded by her family, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Charles Clair. She was born May 29, 1911, in Carmel, the daughter of Harry E. and Alma (Reynolds) Norton. She was employed with Viner Bros. Shoe Co., for more than 20 years. Mrs. Bradbury was a member of First United Methodist Church of Orrington, and a member and former president of United Methodist Women. She was also an active member of Vashti Rebecca Lodge of Orrington. Mrs. Bradbury was predeceased by a son, Alfred Bradbury; a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Kenneth Allen; two sisters and three brothers. Surviving are three children, Harry Bradbury and his wife, Inge, of Leeds and Florida, Thelma Brackett and her husband, Oscar “Bill,” of Augusta and Florida, and Rita Clair and her husband, Charles, of Orland; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Bradbury of Exeter; 21 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-8 p.m. Thurs-day, Feb. 28, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
