RAYMONDE MARTIN MADAWASKA – Raymonde Martin, 73, died peacefully July 8, 2004, at a Madawaska nursing home. She was born Nov. 27, 1930, in Madawaska, the daughter of Denis and Alphonsine (Raymond) Martin, the 14th of 15 children. Raymonde graduated with high honors from Madawaska High School in June of 1949, and for several years worked as a secretary at the high school. Also, she worked at the State Theater from 1947 to 1949. Illness forced her to resign from employment and for many years was able to teach piano to children at her home. Due to her illness, she was admitted to Highview Manor in Madawaska in 1970, where she kept busy with activities offered at the nursing home such as arts and crafts, Bingo, puzzles and piano playing. She was a very gentle person, kindhearted and very patient. She loved company and was always so happy to see family members and friends. She is survived by three brothers, Paul, Normand and Raynald, all of Bangor; three sisters, Sister Celine Martin, Sister of Mercy of Portland, Rose Michaud of Madawaska, and Dolores Hayes and her husband, Eugene, of Austin, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Armand (Gertrude) Martin of Newington, Conn., and Jennie Martin of Bangor; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and great-grand-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six brothers, Patrick, Leonard, Armand, Louis, Onias and Adrian; and by two sisters, Marie Mae Martin and Rita Martin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and relatives may call at the Daigle Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Thomas Aquinas Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
