ORONO and VEAZIE – Raymond W. Mitchell, 91, passed away peacefully, Jan. 22, 2007, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born May 1, 1915, in Sherman, the son of Fred C. and Lucy Osgood Mitchell. A three year veteran of World War II, he was in the Signal Corps Advanced Section Communications in the European theater. Ray worked for Duro-test Corporation, North Bergen, N.J. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances (Robinson) Mitchell; two daughters, Anne Mitchell and John Moore of Readfield and Jeanne and Russell Drechsel of Farmington; two grandchildren, Reed and Alexandra Drechsel; brothers, Burton of Bangor, Dean and Elaine of Veazie, a sister-in-law, Vera Mitchell of Sherman; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert, Clement, Thurlow and Myron; and a sister, Carlene. Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix , pastor and teacher of All Souls Congregational Church, Bangor, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately after the interment.
