BROOKLIN – Ralston Henry Means Jr., 78, died March 28, 2006, at a Blue Hill hospital. He was born May 23, 1927, in Brooklin, the son of Ralston H. and Winifred L. (Cole) Means Sr. He was born and raised in Brooklin. Ralston served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a caretaker for the Chisholm Estate for more than 30 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by many close friends and members of the community. He is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Ralston and wife, Audrey, of Blue Hill; daughter, Louanne and husband, Kevin Higgins, of Brooklin; grandchildren, Sarah Anne Means and Brandon and Ashley Higgins; brother, Merrill Means and wife, Brenda, of Brooklin; sisters, Madeline Smith and husband, Russell, of Brooklin and Arlene Williams of Framingham, Mass.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Hooper; and niece, Joy Hooper-Riabkov. Calling hours will be held 4- 6 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Brooklin Baptist Church with Pastor James Lufkin officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Ephraim Cemetery.
