RACHEL JEAN (ANNIS) LENT

RACHEL JEAN (ANNIS) LENT ROCKPORT and SIMONTON’S CORNER – Rachel Jean (Annis) Lent died peacefully at home on Dec. 23, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Jan. 18, 1927, in Rockport, to Cecil and Zilpha (Coombs) Annis. She graduated from Rockport High School in 1945, and married Harry O. Lent on Sept. 5, 1948. Rachel spent her life tending to the needs of her family and friends, and volunteering. She was an active member of the Simonton’s Corner community, and will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband of 55 years; children, Gary of Cheshire, Ore., Stephanie of Middleton, Wis., Diann of Simonton’s Corner, and Kenneth and his wife, Linda, of Rockland; three grandchildren, Samuel Clay of Middleton, Wis., Julia and James of Rockland; sisters, Alma Ulmer and her husband, Warren, of Rockport, Texas, and Erma Carroll of Cushing; brothers, William Annis and his wife, Elizabeth, of Durham, N.H., and C. Herbert Annis and his wife, Grace, of Rockport; a special aunt, Lois Lynch of Rockport; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Walter and his wife, Bertha Annis. There will be no funeral services. Friends and family are invited to an open house at the Simonton’s Corners Masonic Hall 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004. Donations in her name may be made to Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice, to whom the family is greatly appreciative.
