GARLAND – Raymond Lee Stone, 84, died Dec. 13, 2006, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born Feb. 3, 1922, in Garland, a son of Leonard and Clara (Butters) Stone. Lee lived in the same house all of his life, in West Garland, and graduated from Garland High School. He was a member of the Exeter Historical Society and Poulliot-Seavey Post No. 53 American Legion. He was a former member of the Garland Planning Board and a charter director of the Dexter Regional Federal Credit Union. Lee served as an Army medic at the Normandy invasion during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a loving and caring husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Edith of Garland; two daughters, Joanne and husband, Peter Prescott, of Dexter and Jayne Stone of Garland; a brother, Paul Stone of Exeter; a granddaughter, Sarah and husband, Brian Mills, of Waterboro; sister-in-law, Evelyn P. Lawrence of Pittsfield; two brothers-in-law, Carl and wife, Loraine Palmer, of Exeter and the Rev. John Palmer of Washburn; a niece, nephews and several cousins Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Garland Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay Brennan officiating.
