BANGOR – Phillip U. Church died March 27, 2008, surrounded by friends and loved ones, at a Bangor nursing home. Phil was born Nov. 4, 1931, in Shirley, the son of Colon S. and Lubelle (Chandler) Church. Phil spent the early days of his youth working on the family dairy farm. After his parents passed away, Phil moved to Bangor, where he began a career as a milkman for Footman’s Dairy. It was during this period that Phil married his childhood sweetheart, Inez Towne. Phil would later work for Grant’s Dairy and most recently for Hannaford on Hogan Road. Phil was an avid outdoorsman, who pursued salmon fishing and ducks hunting with zeal and enthusiasm. He would revel in great detail the latest adventure with all of his many friends. Phil enjoyed spending summer days at the Allagash Gateway Campground and looked forward to sharing fun times with all his camping buddies. Phil was a proud member of Veazie Salmon Club, where he spent many a morning playing cribbage with the crew. Phil will be sadly missed by so many of his friends that are too many to name. He will be extremely missed by his dear companion, Katherine Quinn. Kathy and Phil developed a loving and eternal bond. She cared and attended to Phil in a loving and tender way right up until the time of his death, never leaving his side. A graveside service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery later in the spring, date and time to be announced. Arrangements by Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
