HERMON – Mary Bowers Seavey passed away Aug. 17, 2007, at the home of her daughter. She was born May 6, 1909, in Yarmouth, to Mildred (Coffin) and George L. Seabury. She graduated from Monson Academy and Farmington State Normal School, and started her teaching career in Abbot Village, Sherman Mills, and later at Abraham Lincoln School, Bangor. She received her degree from the University of Maine in 1957 and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma society, Alpha Chapter, Bangor. She retired in 1964. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Bowers Adams of Hermon; and a special nephew, Leon Niles Pinkham of Spring, Texas. She has three grandchildren, Andrea and her husband, George Page, of Hermon, Mark and Donna Adams of Washington, N.C., and Larisa Adams of Sabattus; four great-grandchildren, Amanda and Nicholas Page of Hermon and Allison and Mariah Easler of Sabbatus; sister-in-law, Phyllis Bowers of Houlton; brother-in-law, Darrell Seavey of Zephyhills, Fla.; her nieces and nephews include, William R. Bowers of California and Christopher L. Bowers of Carmel, Helen B. Sherwood of Houlton, Anthony V. Bowers of Island Falls and Glenn Jackson of Londonderry, N.H., and their families; cousin and lifelong friend, Carlene C. Hincks of Yarmouth; helpful companion and friend, Hope H. Graf of Topsham. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Emma Jackson; her first husband, William R. Bowers of Sherman in 1936; her second husband, Phillip B. Seavey in 1981; and two very special in-laws, Leon V. and Ella J. Bowers in earlier years. She will be remembered by many friends and her family as cheerful, courageous and cherished. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at Sherman Mills Cemetery with the Rev. John Deal officiating. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
