ORONO and WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – Marguerite A. Newton, 96, died March 17, 2008, at an Orono health care facility. She was born Feb. 16, 1912, in Belmont, Mass., the daughter of James H. and Ada (Brown) Armstrong. Marguerite was a longtime member of St. Stevens Episcopal Church, Westborough, Mass., and attended Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bangor. She graduated from Wheaton College. She would like to be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, James Newton and wife, Audrey, of Sunbury, Mass., Jane MacDonald and husband, Ian, of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Dexter Newton and wife, Mary Kay, of New Braintree, Mass., and Charles Newton and wife, Ellen, of Winterport; 10 grandchildren, Christian, Amanda and Bran, Andy and Circe, Jennifer, Adam and Michele, Sarah and John, Kate, Elijah and Eileen, Ethan and Nani, and Emily; four great-grandchildren, Z?e, Taylor, Adam Joshua and Liam. She was predeceased by her husband, Dexter, in 1972; and by a brother, Richard. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 540 Essex St., Bangor, with the Rev. Elaine Hewes officiating.
