MARGARET ‘PEGGY’ QUALEY

BENEDICTA – Margaret “Peggy” Qualey, 89, of Benedicta, died Sept. 21, 2005, at Patten. She was born Sept. 28, 1915, in Portland, the daughter of Arthur and Johenna (Beaton) Downes. Peggy graduated from Cathedral High School in Portland, was a member of the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, T.O.P.S., and the Sherman Area Senior Citizens. She was a teacher’s aid at the local schools for many years. Peggy enjoyed all the area sports especially watching her grandchildren playing them. She also enjoyed her Red Sox and Nascar. She is survived by four sons, James and his wife, Debbie, of Benedicta, Joseph and his wife, Laura, of Oakland, Leo of Bangor and Daniel and his wife, Cindy, of Benedicta; 14 grandchildren, Jeff, Jason, Arthur, Jeremy, Trevor, Erica, Summer, Danielle, Dustin, Matt, Jordan, Oneal, Richard and Ethan; seven great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Jeffrey, Gracie, Brayden, Samuel, Mahayla and Caden; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be missed by many friends in the community, especially Theresa Albert and Esther Hines. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis and one brother, Raymond. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Benedicta, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday with Father Landry as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Benedict’s Cemetery. Arrangements by the Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
