LEWISTON – Llewellyn A. “Lew” Badershall, 66, of Freeman Township, died early Saturday morning, Dec. 4, 2004, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, following a long illness, with family members by his side. On Jan. 11, 1938, he was born at the family’s farm on Whitney Hill, Freeman Township. He is the son of the late Dyke True Curtis and Lila Faye (Elliott) Badershall Curtis. He received his education in Strong Schools and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer, stationed in Ft. Collins, Colorado and Germany. He returned to his birthplace in 1974 where he married Noni Grover Badershall on Dec. 18, 1976. Lew always took great pride in his work, whether it was in construction or lumbering. His most enjoyable work years were those spent logging with horses, a passion that was passed on to his daughters. Lew was a true outdoorsman, treasuring time spent fishing and hunting with his buddy, Hutch, or daughter Jodi. He often enjoyed simply being in the great outdoors. He was a 50-plus year member of the Strong Hunter’s Club and for many years took on the responsibility of running the annual club supper. Lew is survived by his wife, Noni of the family home, a log cabin he built in Freeman Township; two daughters, Jami Badershall of Cody, Wyo. and Jodi Berry and her husband, Robert Berry III and his family, all of Norridgewock; a brother, Bob Elliott and his family; a sister, Madelyn Tyler and her family; and in-laws, Betty and Fred Whittemore, all of Strong; a brother-in-law, Bobby Grover and his family of Bangor, numerous relatives of the Curtis and Elliott Families in the Caribou and Bangor area. Family and friends are invited to call Monday 5-7 p.m. at the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service and Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., (Rtes. 2 and 27), Farmington. Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at the Strong Methodist Church.
