LILLIAN P. ‘BUNNY’ DOWD

BREWER – Lillian “Bunny” Dowd, 71, died Aug. 6, 2004. She was born July 1, 1933, in New York, N.Y., the daughter of James P. Dowd. Educated in New York schools, Bunny was employed by United Ranger of Levittown, N.Y. in 1969, she moved to Brewer, with her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Michael J. Cuskelly and their family, and was employed by Diamond International for numerous years. Later, she was employed by Bangor Ear, Nose and Throat of Bangor. A longtime communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Brewer, she was principal of the CCD for many years, and was the first woman lector. A loving and giving aunt, Bunny spent her life caring for her nieces and nephews, Michael S. Cuskelly and his wife, Mary, of Bucksport, Mary (Cuskelly) McCormick and her husband, David, of Harpswell, John Cuskelly and his wife, Carie, of Brewer, Timothy Dowd and Eleanor-Ann Dowd, both of California; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jonathan McCormack, Erin McCormack, Kaitlyn McCormick, Marlee Cuskelly, Matthew Cuskelly, Amanda Cuskelly and Max Corwin. She was predeceased by a brother, James Dowd; and a sister, Dorothy (Dowd) Cuskelly. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, by the very Rev. Richard Harvey at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 531 North Main St., Brewer. A reception will be held in the parish hall after the mass. Burial will be held at a later date.
