SOUTH PRINCETON – Kenneth Gatchell Sr., 76, died Jan. 30, 2008, at a Bangor hospital, with his wife, Doris, at his side. Born Aug. 15, 1931, in Searsport, to the late Donald A Gatchell Sr. and Hildred (Thistle) Gatchell, Ken spent the last 42 years of his life living in South Princeton. He retired as a millwright from Georgia-Pacific. He was a mason in the Lewey’s Island Lodge and a member of both Princeton Rod & Gun Club and Baileyville Spednic Club. Ken was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Donald Jr.; and his dear daughter, Linda (Gatchell) MacNevin. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris (Allen) Gatchell. Also surviving are his daughters, Lori Golden and husband, Grant, of Calais, Eileen Newman and her companion, Francis Bohanon, of Plantation 21, Vanessa Gatchell, Sharon Gatchell and her companion, Keith Harris, all of Phoenix, Gayle Greenlaw and husband, Bob, of Calais, and Allison Gatchell of Bangor; and his sons, Kenneth Gatchell II of Dexter, and Graham Gatchell and his wife, Melissa, of Glenburn; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; his sister, Harriette Wheeler of Milford, Conn.; numerous nieces and nephews. An informal memorial gathering will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Spednic Club, Baileyville. A private burial will be held in the spring.
