MONTVILLE – Katherine Brown, 91, of Montville and New Castle, Pa., died Feb. 2, 2007, in Butler, Pa. She was born June 21, 1915, in Providence, R.I., the daughter of Angelo and Maria Carnevale. Katherine was predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, G. George Brown. Together they farmed in Montville and operated Brown Sand and Gravel. Katherine was an expert seamstress, a delightful cook and will be especially remembered for her bountiful vegetable gardens that she loved to attend. Her grandchildren will remember her as a generous teacher, who passed on her skills to her family. She is survived by two sisters, Sue Atchison of North Providence, R.I., and Annette Crowther of Beverly Hills, Fla.; a daughter, Sandy George of Montville; a son, Robert Brown of New Castle; Pa.; four grandchildren, Diana George Chapin of Montville, Elizabeth Beal of Knox, Pa., Barry Brown of Newcastle, Pa., and Mathew Brown of Cheyenne, Wyo.; five great-grandchildren, Julia Elizabeth Chapin and Emma Rose Chapin of Montville, Samantha Ann Beal, Richard Tyler Beal and Joshua Edward Beal of Knox, Pa. Relatives and friends may call during visiting hours 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 43 Court St., Belfast.
