ALLAGASH – Joseph Kelly, 100, died Aug. 2, 2007, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born Feb. 8, 1907, in Allagash, the son of Ransford and Mary (Mullins) Kelly. Joseph lived a long and content life in his beautiful Allagash. He was a river driver and lumberman, and he was a great storyteller to family and friends. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by three sons, Gerald, Leighton and Niles Kelly, all of Allagash; five daughters, Gladys Wilson of Windsor, Ontario, Florence Jackson and Geraldine Robidoux, both of Mansfield, Ohio, Crete Young of Tell City, Ind., and Lynn Snyder of Sarasota, Fla.; one brother, Luther Kelly of East Hartford, Conn.; and one sister, Flo Henderson of Augusta; 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Nellie Kelly in 1995; a daughter, Minnie Dixon in 1984; one son, Mark Kelly in 1995; and one grandson, Ryan Kelly in 2003; three brothers and two sisters. Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Allagash Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Allagash Baptist Church with the Rev. John Dik officiating. Committal service will be after at Allagash Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements are being conducted by Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
