LAKELAND, Fla. – Mr. John Albert Gladu, 77, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, of cancer, at home. Mr. Gladu was born March 18, 1931, in Portland, to Joseph N. Gladu and Maryanne (Galant) Gladu. He moved to Lakeland, Fla., from Orrington in 1989. He was a general manager for multiple companies in Maine, in the large truck industry. He worked for Moore International Truck Sales, Polk County, Fla., before retiring. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Charter Grand Knight and district deputy in Maine, and parish council of St. Teresa, Brewer. Mr. Gladu was also a charter member of the parish council at St. John Neumann Catholic Church and a member of St. John Neumann Men’s Club. He was a member of the Elks. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Gladu of Lakeland, Fla.; sons, Michael and Kevin Gladu, both of Bangor, and Robert Gladu of Evergreen, Colo.; daughters, Jacqueline Braley of Steamboat Springs, Colo., and Donna Gladu of Etna; six grandsons, John, Andrew, Anthony, Patrick, Robert and Shawn; one granddaughter, Erin Gladu; and one great-granddaughter, Aislynn. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 501 Carter Road, Lake-land, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Good Shepard Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823. Arrangements entrusted to Seigler Funeral Home, Mulberry, Fla.
