WINTERPORT – Johann “John” Geisel, 69, died Dec. 27, 2004, at Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. He was born July 8, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the first child of Adele and Herman Geisel of the Black Forest Region of Germany. John served honorably in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. John worked for Craftco Inc. as a Plant Engineer at the Bangor Mall for 26 years, starting when it opened and retiring just a few years ago. John has lived in Winterport for 26 years where he raised his family. John loved canoeing and fishing at Thistle pond and hunting, but he never got his buck. He is survived by seven children; Johanna Forsythe and her husband, Greg, of Verona Island, Johann Geisel II of Winterport, Carsten Geisel of Winterport, PFC Adele Geisel of Ft. Hood, Texas, Raymond Geisel of Hampden, Hannelore Geisel of Bangor, and June Geisel of Bangor; their Pop-pop and Pea-Pa will be greatly missed by three grandchildren Calista, Kyle, and Jiana; and a special friend, Richard Peirce. He is also survived by a brother, Erick Geisel of New York; four children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren from a previous marriage. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at the River City Wesleyan Church, 146 Center St., Bangor. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until time of service.
