LUDLOW – Janice E. Tower Gartley, 79, died March 2, 2007, at Bangor. She was born April 2, 1927, in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of Shirley and Dorothy (Martin) Estabrook. Janice was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse and gardener. She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Hazen Gartley of Ludlow; eight children, James Tower and his wife, Vicki, of Glenburn, Ervin Tower and his wife, Dawn, of Patten, Judy Beals and her husband, Rodney, of Littleton, Joyce Folsom and her husband, Timothy, Tony Tower and his wife, Rhonda, all of Ludlow, Valerie Gove and her husband, Vaughn, of Houlton, Lois Pangburn and her companion, Dan, of Presque Isle and Henry Gartley and his wife, Marion, of Houlton; 18 grandchildren, Allyson, James, John, Andy, Beth, Kim, Erin, Lindsey, Jill, Ashley, Libby, Anthony, Sean, Jeffrey, Jessica, Becky, Elizabeth and Matthew; several great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Kenneth and his wife, Donna Estabrook, of Houlton, Elaine and her husband, Gene Amnott, of Mars Hill, Joanne and her husband, Melvin Anderson, of Ellsworth, Mary Butterfield of Brookton, Ted Estabrook of Cary; two aunts, Faye Ireland of Enfield and Queenie Boles of Howland; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; first husband, Floyd Tower; one brother, Verdal “Micky”; and one sister, Avril. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where a private family funeral will be held 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating.
