SURRY – James W. Furth, 81, died June 1, 2004, at an Ellsworth hos-pital. He was born July 16, 1922, in New Brunswick, N.J., the son of Frank Willard and Alice (Prost) Furth. He was raised in Highland Park, N.J. James served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. After his service time he attended Princeton University, Princeton, N.J. James and his late wife Winfred (Harvey) Furth lived in Surry for a number of years. He served on the local planning boards of the village of Surry and the County of Hancock. James is survived by a son, Tim Furth, of Surry; three daughters, Sarah Green of Scottsville, N.Y., Susan Kelly of Rochester, N.Y., and Sandra Cederroth of Westfield, N.J. He was predeceased by his wife in 1996. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Those who desire may make contributions in James memory to the charity of ones choice.
