DEER ISLE – James Scott Douglass died unexpectedly March 1, 2008, in Brooksville. He was doing one of his favorite things and with some of his favorite people, snowmobiling on Parkers Pond. Known to most as “Slim” was born March 21, 1981, in Blue Hill, the son of Gary and Joanne Douglass. He attended Deer Isle-Stonington schools and Eastern Maine Technical College. Jim loved working with his father learning the carpentry business. He spent a lot of his time volunteering for Deer Isle Fire Department. He loved fish-ing, hunting, working on cars, four-wheeling, building things and hanging out with his friends. His friends were a big part of his life. He is survived by his sister, Angela; brother, Jeffrey and girlfriend, Darci; his grandmother, Veryl Douglass; his uncle, Frank Egelsen and wife, Catherine; and two boys, Frank Jr. and Brian of New York; his aunt, Virginia Fortner; and three daughters, Nicole, Doreen Johnstone and husband, James, and Stephaine McAnney and husband, Jay, of New York; uncle, Julian; and aunt, Sonia Douglass. He is also survived by many friends and other family. A celebration of Jim’s life will take place 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Deer Isle-Stonington High School. Carharts are appropriate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to Deer Isle Fire Department to start a scholarship in his memory. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
