JAMES LAWSON ‘JIM’ BELL

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia – James Lawson Bell, 67, passed away after a brief illness March 22, 2006, in Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born March 29, 1938, in Saint John, N.B., he was the son of the late Walter Bell and Mary Durick. He was raised in St. Stephen, N.B. and spent most of his adult life in Halifax. He earned a bachelor of commerce degree from St. Francis Xavier University in 1961. Jim earned his Canadian Securities designation and eventually became a stockbroker. Jim is survived by his former spouses, Theresa Bell of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Anke Van Ek, of Ontario. He was the loving father of Janice of Halifax and Jimmy of Toronto, Ontario. He was the beloved brother of Doreen Fairley of Maryland, Faye Adams of Maine and Peter Bell of Connecticut. Jim was predeceased by his older brother, Thomas Bell. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at Saint Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Halifax.
