HARLEY ‘BAMPIE’ O. KNOWLTON JR.

ROCKPORT – Harley “Bampie” O. Knowlton Jr., 65, pas-sed away Jan. 17, 2008, at Pen Bay Medical Center, Rockport. He was born May 8, 1942, in Hancock, to Harley O. and Mildred Hudson Knowlton. He graduated from Sumner Memorial High School. For many years, he was a commercial fisherman and enjoyed sailing down the bay for the clam tide. He also drove a truck and worked for many years at O.W. and B.S. Look, Jonesport. Six and one half years ago, he and his wife, Adra, moved to the Rockland area to be with their family and to help his son, Harley, manage his property maintenance company. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, long Sunday rides with his wife in the Caddy, camping, watching his grandchildren play sports and watching WWE. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Adra; and mother-in-law, Mertie Alley; his son, Russell and wife, Rita; son, Harley III and wife, Terri; daughter, Carolee and husband, Patrick; daughter, Kimberley and son, Joshua; two very special nephews, Ian and Timothy Alley and their families; and sister-in-law, Wanda Merchant and family; nine grandchildren, Kristie, Ashley, Shelby, Jordan, Emily, Jacob, Ashley, Roger and Elizabeth; one great-granddaughter, MacKenzie; seven sisters, Bunnie, Sandra, Jean, Faye, Debbie, Beatrice and Donna; two brothers, Dick and David; numerous nieces and nephews. A remembrance service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church, Jonesport. Spring burial will be at Green-wood Cemetery, Jonesport.
