GEORGE EDWARD NIXON

CALAIS – George Edward Nixon, 67, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at a Calais hospital. George was born Nov. 5, 1937, in Calais, son of the late Albert and Laura (Thomas) Nixon. During and after high school, he served in the Army National Guard in Calais. George was employed with the Shop-n-Save in Calais for more than 25 years. He was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed sports and reading. ‘George was predeceased by a brother, James Nixon and a sister, Alberta Doten. Surviving are his brother, John Nixon and his wife, Marina, of Calais; two sisters, Kay Woodall of Omega, Ga., and Dorothy Szal of New Jersey; a sister-in-law Matisko Nixon of Calais; and several nieces and nephews. At the family’s request, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 27, in the Calais Cemetery with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
