GENICE N. WELCOME

DEER ISLE – Genice N. Welcome, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at a Deer Isle health- care facility. She was born May 9, 1918, in Stonington, the daughter of Dr. Benjamin Lake Noyes and Linnie (Howard) Noyes. Genice was a former executive secretary of the Deer Isle-Stonington Historical Society, which she enjoyed very much. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Victor E. Welcome of Deer Isle; four children, Bruce C. Greenlaw of Stonington, Paul L. Greenlaw and his wife, Judy, of Deer Isle, Vicki J. Pope and her husband, David, of Saline, Mich., and Jeffrey Welcome and his wife, Lori, of Stonington, Conn.; five grandchildren, Patricia Boutilier, Dr. Paul Greenlaw, Ashley Welcome, Katherine Welcome, and Eric Welcome; two great-grand-children, Douglas and Sarah Boutilier; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Genice was predeceased by a sister, Natalie Cleveland; and a brother George H. Noyes. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the Mount Adams Cemetery, Deer Isle with Harry Vickerson officiating. Gifts in memory of Genice may be sent to the Genice Welcome Fund at the Island Nursing Home, North Deer Isle Road, Deer Isle, ME 04627, to benefit a new exercise room. Arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Stonington.
