FRANCES I. JACK

WESTBROOK and BANGOR – Frances I. Jack, formerly of Rockland and Bangor, died peacefully July 27, 2007, at Springbrook Nursing Center, Westbrook. “Mum” was surrounded by her sons as she completed her journey. Born Sept. 5, 1940, in Bangor, she was the daughter of Earland Trafton and Viola Jones Trafton. Frances grew up and attended schools in Bradford. After marrying Howard Jack of Bradford, she moved to Milford, Conn. Frances worked for many years as a waitress, most of those years being at Paul’s restaurant. She worked also in the city clerk’s office in Bangor. Additionally, Frances worked for a number of years at J.C. Penny, Bangor and Rockland, retiring from J.C. Penny in 2002. Fran had a very full life. She had a lifelong love of the ocean. Traveling was one of her favorite activities and she was able to do so extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She loved music and tried never to miss the Rockland Blues Festival. Frances was a remarkable woman, raising five sons, of whom she was very proud, mostly on her own. She was devoted to her family and spending time with them was precious to her. Fran was loved and respected by her many friends and relatives. She will be greatly missed. Frances was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Judith. Frances is survived by her five sons who include, Curtis and his wife, Sonia, of Lewiston, Robert of Alaska, Michael of Decatur, Ill., Howard and his wife, Tracy, of Westbrook and Ronald and his wife, Lee, of Bangor. She loved her grandchildren very much, these include, Aimee and Elise of Lewiston, Michael, Michelle and Danielle of Decatur, Ill., Tyler, Seth and Nick of Westbrook and Ryan and Molly of Bangor. She is also survived by her four brothers and sisters who include, Ronald Trafton and his wife, Jackie, of Augusta, Janette Arnold and her husband, Earland, of Charleston, Dennis Trafton and his wife, Faye, of Lagrange and Freeland Trafton and his wife, Bonnie, of Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, with the Rev. Robert T.
