PENOBSCOT – Frances F. (Bridges) LaPoint, 81, died peacefully April 7, 2007, surrounded by her loving family, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 4, 1926, in Bucksport, daughter of Frank and Della Mae (Blaisdell) Bridges. Frances was a giving, loving woman and strong supporter to her family, who often put others needs before hers. A humorous woman, she was full of wit and wasn’t afraid to make her opinion known. God was present in her life, whether it was in the many churches she attended, while she worked in her gardens, on long car rides, visits to the Asticou Gardens, Mount Desert Island or sitting with her feline companion, Max. Frances is loved and will be missed by her children, Julie Leeman of Dexter, Raymond R. LaPoint Jr. of Franklin and his fiance, Bonnie Hardy, of Deer Isle, Scott A. LaPoint and his fiance, Delana Macomber, of Penobscot, Jody Richard and husband, Remy, of Exeter, Kevin T. LaPoint and partner, Tom Benvie, of Alfred, Bettijean Kepner of Exeter, Paula Gardner of Manchester, N.H., and Shayne Daggett and his family of Connecticut; her sisters, Hilda York of Ellsworth and Nellie Pierce of Bucksport; her grandchildren, Ericka, Brandee, Ben, Kelli, Jayson, Shannon, Melanie, Joshua, Jacob, Eric, Allyson, William, Travis, Raymond, RosaLita, Christy, April, Angel, Anne and Lenny; her great-grand-children, Kirk, Patrick, Haley, Cheyenne, Isaac, Malakai, Xavior, Charity, Larry, William, Richard, “Little Willy II,” Jamie, Cody and Damon; several nieces and nephews; many special friends and extended family members including, Tom Moody, Kent Novak, Richard Kepner, Derek McLaughlin and Pastor Vasha. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Raymond H. LaPoint Sr.; sister-in-law, Gloria Lawless; brother-in-law, Joe LaPoint; special friend, Bunny Colter. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with visitation 11 a.m. until time of service, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
