SOUTHWEST HARBOR Elsie Mae Gilley, 74, passed away May 11, 2007. She was born Sept. 3, 1932, in Cutler, the daughter of Roy W. and Muriel (Carter) Campbell. The family later moved to Blue Hill after the unexpected death of Roy. Elsie graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1950. Elsie met her future husband of 45 years, Carleton B. Gilley in 1955. They lived in Southwest Harbor, where they raised their four boys. Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Carleton. She is survived by her four sons, Harvey Gilley and his fianc?e, Lila, of Aurora, along with his children, Matthew, Brandon and Anthony; son, Michael Gilley and wife, Sharon, of Bass Harbor and their children, Jeremy and Gage; son, David Gilley and wife, Carol, of Ellsworth and children, Amber, DJ and Erica; and son, Bryan Gilley of Southwest Harbor and Boca Grande, Fla. Elsie is also survived by one great-grandchild, Travis Jr.; and two sisters, Edna Lewis of Manset and Florence Dodge and her husband, Eric, of Blue Hill; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one stepbrother, Frank Campbell of Virginia; one grandson, Benjamin; and a great-grandson, Braden. Private graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Southwest Harbor. Donations may be made to the Hospice of Hancock County or to American Cancer Society.
