ELLIS ‘TEX’ STEWART SR.

BANGOR – Ellis Howell Stewart Sr., 66, beloved husband of Marjorie (Lindie) Stewart passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 21, 1937, in Houston, Texas, son of Doris Mae (Hughes) Stewart and Ellis “Duke” Siebert Stewart. Ellis served in the Army National Guard, Air National Guard and regular U.S. Air Force from June 1954 until his honorable discharge from Dow Air Force Base Jan. 15, 1962. He worked for Maine Distributors Feb. 1, 1962, until Sept. 1, 1963, and Hughes Bros. Construction for 36 years until his retirement in 2000, where he especially loved operating the backhoe. He was a member of the Bangor Elks Lodge No. 244 and Eagles Club No. 3177 of Brewer. He especially loved doing leatherwork, hunting and fishing. He also loved all sports, including rodeo, stockcar racing, riding motorcycles, wrestling, and he enjoyed his VCR’s. Ellis is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marjorie; daughter and son-in-law, Cyndee and Tom Johnson of Dover-Foxcroft; son, Ellis Howell Stewart Jr.; and a very special grand-daughter, Brittany Diane Stewart, both of Milford; other grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Sheryl and Kenny Yauk of Temple, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie Lee and Nadine Gidley of Salado, Texas; “Mom” Jimmie Ming of Belton, Texas; neices, nephews, cousins, and a special cousin, Nancy Wilson, of Houston Texas, special brother-in-law and his wife, Bill and Betty Lindie of Waterville. He will be missed by his dog, Chico; and many special friends; and his coworkers at Hughes Brothers. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Alvin; a sister, Linda; and a special grandmother, “Nanny” A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.
