BELFAST – Edwin J. Savage, 82, of Belfast, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. Born in Bangor on July 7, 1922, he was the son Joseph and Susie Snow Savage. Edwin enjoyed gardening, woodworking and loved antique cars and planes. He was a member of the VFW and the Pipe-Fitters Union Local 321. He was enlisted in the Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was predeceased by an adopted son, Donald Savage; and a half brother, Melvin Savage. Edwin is survived by his wife, Rita Higgins Savage, who he married in 1982; stepchildren, Thomas Savage and his wife, Elizabeth, of Searsport, William Cote and his wife, Shelly, of Maple Leaf, Wash., Timothy Cote of Bucksport, Renee Davis of Stockton Springs, James Bladen of Eddington, Brian Steele of Belfast, Brett Steele and his wife, Melissa of Belfast; an adopted daughter, Elizabeth Savage of Bangor; three half brothers, Paul Savage of Bangor, Richard Savage and his wife, Betsy of New Hampshire and Joseph Savage and his wife, Linda, of Bangor; and one half sister, Barbara Lunt and her husband, Robert, of Bangor. He will be sadly missed by three step grandchildren, Nicholas Tibbetts, Michael Steele and Brittany Steele; along with a very special girl, Ashley Bryant. Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Rackliffe Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Parker officiating. Visitation is 12:30 until time of service Thursday.
