STOCKTON SPRINGS – Edwin A. Colcord Jr., 73, died July 10, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 4, 1931, at Belfast, the son of Edith (Trundy) and Edwin A. Colcord Sr. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 131st Division from June 1953 until June 1955. He retired in 1995 from General Alum and Chemical Corp. of New England, after 40 years of service. He was a talented woodworker and carpenter and a member of the Jerry W. Dobbins American Legion Post No. 157, Stockton Springs, and the National Rifle Association. Ed is survived by his daughter, Dolores Walker and her husband, Nelson, of Prospect; two grandchildren, Stephen Larrabee Jr. of Bucksport, and Kristie Larrabee of Prospect; his special friend and companion, Barbara Shankel of Stockton Springs; a sister, Mertie Dieterick of Pennsylvania; two nieces, Cindy Cohen, and Linda Cunkel; a nephew, Melvin Moulton of New Jersey; his beloved dog, Cocoa; many special friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Kissane) Colcord. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport, with Rev. Art Cotton, officiating. A gathering of refreshment and conversation will immediately follow the service at a place to be announced.
