KENDUSKEAG – Douglas Charles Thayer, 53, husband of Trina (Stinson) Thayer went to live in Gods Glory Land Feb. 28, 2006, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born March 16, 1952, in Bangor, a son of Charles Elmer Thayer and Wilma Daisey (Wilcox) Thayer Bouchard. Doug loved racing and was crew chief for a special friend, Leland Waddell of Austin, Texas. His passion was riding his Harley Davidson. He was a wonderful, loving family man and friend to all, never failing to help anyone in need. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Exeter. In addition to his wife of Kenduskeag and his mother of Orrington, his is survived by his children, Shelby Rae Thayer and Joseph H. Simon of Kenduskeag, Randy Charles Thayer and wife, Marilyn, of Brownville, Texas, Rochelle Leigh Kingsley and Marlan Lamar Kingsley of Austin, Texas; granddaughters, Lauren and Alexandria; brothers and sisters and their families, Donna Gagnon of Levant, Deborah Bessine of Burlington, Iowa, Darlene Green of Bryant Pond, Maury Thayer of Hermon, Charles Thayer of Glenburn, Keith Estes of Hermon; one aunt, Doris Phillips of Hermon; several cousins; and his dog and cat, Elmo and Salem. He will be remembered by several special friends. He was predeceased by his father and grandparents, Al and Rowena Thayer. Doug’s family extends a special thanks to New Hope Hospice, CancerCare of Maine and cousin, Linda Halloran, for all their care and support. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, at Foley Funeral Services, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, with Pastor Stan Griffin of Cornerstone Baptist Church, officiating. A private committal service will be held at a later date. Friends and family are invited to a time of fellowship at the West Glenburn Community Club following the service Saturday.
