ORLAND – Dorothy L. Robshaw died June 6, 2008, surrounded by her family at Blue Hill Hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Bangor, the daughter of Patrick F. and Emma M. (Simpson) McAvoy. She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bucksport. Dorothy graduated from Bucksport High School. She was a past member of Orland Fireman’s Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, St. Vincent de Paul Women’s Group, Orland Extension and was a ballot clerk for the town of Orland for many years. Dorothy loved sitting on her porch watching the birds, chipmunks and flowers. She knitted hundreds of pairs of mittens for local charities. Her family was most important to her. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Linwood C. Robshaw of Orland; five children, Jeffrey Robshaw and his wife, Sandra, of Bucksport, Mary Hauger and her husband, Geoffrey, Anne Leclerc and her husband, Daniel, Peter Robshaw and his wife, Gail, all of Orland and Martha Accola and her husband, Stephen, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Gary Hauger, Katherine Smith, Samantha Fairfield, Margaret Hanscom, Stephen Accola, Daniel Accola, Racheal Robshaw, Sara Robshaw and Mark Accola; seven great-grandchildren, Delaney Fairfield, Madelyn Fairfield, Emily Hanscom, Ethan Leclerc, Isabella Fairfield, Allison Hanscom and Remington Grindle; one sister, Marguerite Lyons of Pelham, N.H.; several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by six brothers, Frank, Doug, Albert, Robert, George and Richard McAvoy; and two sisters, Mary Gonyer and Mildred Heath. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bucksport, with Father James Plourde officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
