FORT FAIRFIELD and SAN ANTONIO, Texas -Donald C. De Merchant, 77, husband of the late Mary De Merchant, passed away March 5, 2006, at San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was born June 5, 1928, at Fort Fairfield, the son of Oscar and Iva (Workman) De Merchant. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Mark Fuller of San Antonio, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Paula De Merchant of Caribou. Don will be lovingly remembered by four grandchildren, Tania Fuller-Bendele, Rudy Fuller, Lauren and Reid De Merchant; two great-grandchildren, Lawson Fuller-Bedele and Saylor Grace Fuller; two brothers, Winston and Derald De Merchant; four sisters, Pearl Burns, Avis De Merchant, Beryl Hill and Shirley Bodecker, numerous nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Iva (Workman) De Merchant; his wife, Mary De Merchant; one sister, Geraldine “Jay” Boulier. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. Spring interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Donald to the Caribou Pet Rescue, in care of Norma Milton, 772 South Shore Rd., Stockholm ME 04783.
