LINNEUS – Darrell Smith Crane, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior July 4, 2008, at Houlton Regional Hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Linneus, to William and Ger-trude (Smith) Crane. He married his childhood sweetheart, Opal M. (Adams) Crane, June 11, 1947, and they lived and raised their family across the road from Opal’s homestead. In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by three children, Linda McGuire and her fianc?, Clifford Schumacher, of Waterville, Donna Izzo and her husband, Stephen, of Houlton and David Crane and his wife, Candace, of Linneus; grandchildren, Vincent McGuire II and his wife, Steph-anie, of Augusta and their two children, Vincent III and Gabriella; Jennifer McGuire and her friend, Kevin Funk, of Lisbon and her three children, Aarika, Christina and Emma; Darrell McGuire and his wife, Tiffany, of Augusta; John McGuire and his fianc?e, Melissa and her son, Isaac; Kathryn Izzo, David Izzo and his wife, Christina and their three children, Arianna, Hanna and Joshua, all of Houlton and Christian Crane of Linneus; and one niece, Lois Flew-elling and her husband, Charlie and their family, Skippy, Shelley, Kim, Mark and Heather, all of Maine. Darrell was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Reta Carmichael. He always took care of his family with whatever talents he could use, which included being a dairy farmer from the early ’40s until 1981, cooper (barrel maker) for many years, potato farmer and a salesman for a variety of different products. In later years, he became the vacuum repairman for most of The County. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Revs. Stephen Izzo and Elaine Jordan officiating.
