FORT KENT – Clarence Jalbert, 96, died Aug. 16, 2007, at a Windham health care facility. He was born June 8, 1911, in Fort Kent, the son of Frank and Clara (Soucy) Jalbert. Clarence was a farmer and lumberman for most of his life; he was also a northern Maine guide, whom enjoyed the Allagash and St. John River wilderness areas. He also belonged to the American Legion-Martin Klein Post No. 133, Fort Kent. He is survived by his beloved wife, May (Cyr) Jalbert of Fort Kent; one daughter, Doris and her husband, Art Wheaton, of Summersville, N.C.; one son, Thomas and his wife, Judy Jalbert, of Windham; two sisters, Genevieve Bouchard of Fort Kent and Bernadine Foley of Intervale N.H.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to both his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Herman Jalbert. A Mass of Christian burial with full military honors will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
