LUBEC – Clara McCurdy, 86, died Sunday, July 27, 2008, at the Hospice House, Auburn. Clara was born July 21, 1922, in Lubec, daughter of the late Carl and Annie (Hunt) Sturks. She was employed for years as a packer in the local sardine factories. In addition to her parents, Clara was predeceased by her husband, Leo McCurdy; a grandson, Leo C. McCurdy; and a sister, Geneva Garnett. Surviving are her son, Neal McCurdy and his wife, Judith, of Kingfield; a granddaughter, Kate Schulz and her husband, Brian, of North Reading, Mass.; and great-grandchildren, Kiernan and Maggie Schulz of North Reading, Mass. A special thanks goes to Hospice of Washington County, Franklin County and Auburn for the wonderful care Clara received. A celebration of Clara’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Christian Temple Church, Lubec, with Pastor Gary Look officiating. Burial will be held after at Lamson Cemetery.
