HOULTON – Christina H. Laveway, 90, died May 26, 2005, at a local healthcare facility. She was born July 16, 1914, at Presque Isle, the daughter of James Albert and Anne M. (Cummings) Henry. Christina graduated from Houlton High School and attended the Maine School of Commerce (Husson College) in Bangor. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years in Presque Isle. After returning to Houlton, Christina, her mother, and her husband, Elmer Laveway established Ann’s Women Wear, which they ran together for many years. She enjoyed dancing, golfing, bowling, and weekend visits to their camp on Portage Lake. She was a member of the Saint Mary of the Visitation Church, the Houlton Country Club, and the Houlton Lodge of Elks Ladies Bowling League. Christina is survived by two sisters-in-law, Ethel Henry of Ellsworth, Bernice Laveway of Presque Isle; one brother-in-law, Don Laveway and his wife, Dolores, of Ashland; seven nephews, James Henry, Jr. of Penobscot, George Henry of Ellsworth, Wilton Waterman, Jr., of Westbrook, James Laveway of Ashland, David Laveway of Hoosick, N.Y., Mike Laveway of Libby, Mont., Peter Laveway of Belfast, John Cook of Caribou, Thomas Cook of Presque Isle; six nieces, Nicole Grindle of Waltham, Sandra Waterman of Albany, Vt., Mary Ellen Chasse of Ashland, Suzanne Russo of Portland, Katherine McDaniel of Phoenix, Ariz., Christina Mallory of Magnolia, Texas; a dear friend, Rose Levesque of Houlton, who provided Christina with much happiness, comfort and care in recent years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Elmer Laveway, in 1976; a sister, Levina Waterman; two brothers, Ralph and James Henry. Friends may call 10 a.m. Monday, at the Dunn Funeral Home until the time of departure for the church at 10:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church, with the Rev. Roger Cyr celebrant. Interment will be in the Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
