CHARLOTTE ROSAMOND COHEN BRODER

BANGOR and DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – Charlotte Rosamond Cohen Broder, 81, died Aug. 24, 2004, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was born in Biddeford, and graduated from Westbrook Junior College. Charlotte was a school-teacher. She was a retail merchant with her husband Irving Broder, and they owned and operated the Boston Store and Chain Apparel shops in Central and Northern, Maine. Charlotte belonged to Yiddish Clubs and was dedicated to preserving and reviving the Yiddish language. She was active in the Temple Sisterhood and Hadassah. Charlotte was dedicated to her family first and to music, dancing, her friends and good health. She is survived by her three daughters, Sherry of Honolulu, Hawaii, Cindy of Newton, Mass., and Janet of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sons-in-law, eight grandchildren and a sister and brother. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be in Beth Israel Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at 75 Poplar St., Bangor, Aug. 29 and 30, 2004. Memorial donations in Charlotte’s memory may be sent to the Beth Israel Synagogue, 144 York St., Bangor, ME 04401 or the Sammy Fund, care of the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, 100 Campus Drive, Unit 107, Scarborough, ME 04074.
