LAKE RONKONKOMA, N.Y. Carolyn Foster Knowles, 71, died Aug. 16, 2007, at Speare Memorial Hospital, Plymouth, N.H., after a long illness. Carolyn was born Feb. 15, 1936, in Fort Fairfield, daughter of Walter and Florence (Kipp) Foster. She married Harold Knowles and in 1960 they relocated their family to Long Island, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Grant Knowles, June of 1994; and her son, Kirk Lee Knowles, August of 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Scalzo Babin and son-in-law, Roger O. Babin, of Campton, N.H.; a son, Harold Grant Knowles Jr. and daughter-in-law, Carol Knowles, of Patchogue, N.Y.; a daughter, Karen Wilkerson and son-in-law, David Wilkerson, of Wendell, N.C.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Keith Foster of Bristol, Tenn.; a brother, Kipp Foster of Fort Fairfield; a brother, Walter Foster Jr. of Holly Springs, N.C.; and many devoted nieces and nephews. Services for Mrs. Knowles will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fort Fairfield. Burial will be held after at Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating.
