MILLINOCKET – Carol E. Whalen, 67, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at her residence. She was born Sept. 23, 1938, in East Millinocket, the daughter of Elwood and Ellen (Mackin) Dickinson. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Whalen. Carol was a graduate of Stearns High School and a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. After high school, Carol worked a short while at Great Northern Paper Co. She also worked for several years at the former J.J. Newbury store on Penobscot Avenue. Carol was a wonderful homemaker and mother to her children, and family was a very important part of her life. She is survived by her mother, Ellen of Millinocket; her children, Robert Whalen and his companion, Brenda Cyr, of Millinocket, Mary Ellen and her husband, John Haugen, of Millinocket, and Nancy and her husband, Michael Marino, of Connecticut; two grandchildren, Ashley and Kyle Marino of Connecticut; many friends and relatives. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Dickinson, April 9, 2006, and by her father, Elwood. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, July 3, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Burial will be in Millinocket Cemetery.
