CARLISLE ‘CARL’ WILLIAM RYDER JR. MILFORD – Carlisle “Carl” William Ryder Jr., 72, passed away Dec. 21, 2007, at his home. Born June 4, 1935, in Dixmont, he was the son of Carlisle W. and Irene M. (Harris) Ryder Sr. Carl graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1954. He then served two years in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Dix, N.J. He married Ruby P. Burrill, March 28, 1959, in Orono. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and worked at Penobscot Purchasing Co., Diamond International and James River Corp., before retiring due to health reasons. As an active outdoorsman, Carl enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips through the years with family and friends. He was involved in many organizations, including the Arch Temple Shrine, St. John Commandery No. 3, Mount Moriah Royal Arch Chapter No. 6, the Masons, Eastern Star and the Millvee Chapter No. 198. Carl was predeceased by his parents and one granddaughter, Jennifer Marliyn Ryder. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Ruby P. Ryder of Milford; two sons, Mark Ryder of Milford and Brian Ryder and his wife, Lisa, of Holden; one brother, Ernest Ryder and his wife, Alice, of Texas; four grandchildren, Rhonda Ryder, Mark Allen Ryder, Ryan Ryder and Jason Ryder; and one great-grandson, Eric Matthew. The family has requested no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
