BLANCHE E. MITCHELL

EASTPORT – Blanche E. Mitchell, 94, lifelong resident of Eastport passed away Aug. 8, 2004, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center, Calais. Born June 7, 1910, at Eastport to Henry and Caroline Smith. Blanche worked on the NYA project as a hospital administrator. Later she worked for B.H. Wilson Fisheries and Dr. James Bates until her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, Sumner D. Mitchell; and son, Harold Mitchell. Predeceased siblings were Harold Smith, Roberta Camick and Donald Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Sanchez and her husband, Henry; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Mitchell; grandchildren, Tony Mitchell and wife, Elaina, Brenda Mitchell, Cynthia Austin and husband, Robert, Jeffrey Mitchell, and family, Judith Ballards and husband, Leonard, Mark Sanchez, Barbara Pemberton and husband, P.J., and Laura Mitchell; 15 great-grandchild-ren, and two neices; Gloria Smith, and Donna Farrington and husband, Dennis. At Blanche’s request there will be no viewing, or funeral services. Cremation will be arranged by Flagg Funeral Home with burial at the Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the charity of their choice.
