CALAIS – Bernard George Weber Jr., 67, died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Bernard was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Illertissen, Germany, son of the late Carl and Walburga Weber and his adoptive parents, the late Bernard and Rose Mary (Ripple) Weber Sr. While serving in the U.S. Navy, he married Sharon Etter Nov. 23, 1963, at Bainbridge Naval Training Center, Maryland. Bernard graduated from Emery University, Atlanta with a degree in chemistry and psychology. He retired from General Motors as a labor relations administrator after 40 years of service. Bernard enjoyed gardening, NASCAR, music, football and his four beautiful grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Erich, Johann Baptist and Anton Weber, all of Germany. Surviving are his loving wife of more than 42 years, Sharon Weber; three children, Karl Weber of Calais, Christina Taylor and husband, Landon, of Kiev, Ukraine, and Erik Weber and his partner, Chris Chwal, of Pipersville, Pa.; three sisters, Elizabeth Buerzle, Mar-ianna Rubin and Rose Weber; a brother, Franz Weber, all of Germany; four grandchildren, Laura Rose Taylor, Benjamin Paul Taylor, Tyler James Chwal-Weber and Evan Paul Chwal-Weber; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Lillie. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. James the Greater R.C. Church, Baileyville with Fr.
