VAN BUREN – Aurore P. Lapointe, 92, died April 14, 2005, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Aug. 31, 1912, in Cyr Plantation, the daughter of Napoleon and Dina (Jacques) Lapierre. She was a 1930 graduate of the Fort Kent Normal School and graduated from the Presque Isle Normal School in 1931. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Spanish Study Club and had also completed a Dale Carnegie Institute course. Aurore was a member and served on the board of the Women’s Extension Service. She also served as a Den Mother for the Van Buren Cub Scout Troop. She enjoyed arts and crafts and loved to work in her flower gardens. She was an avid bridge player and golfer and played both in a very competitive spirit. She is survived by two sons, Daniel Lapointe and his wife, Marie-Paule of Van Buren, Dr. Joseph Lapointe and his wife, Janice, of Sunnyvale, Calif.; three grandchildren, Dr. Julie Bonnani and her husband, Dr. Perry, of Clifton Park, N.Y., Philip Lapointe and his wife, Amy, of Powell, Ohio, and David Lapointe and his wife, Trudi, of Caribou; four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Stefania Bonnani, Peter and Sarah Lapointe; two great- stepgrandchildren, Kyle and Tyler Burch; one brother, Aristide Lapierre and his wife, Angeline, of Madawaska. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. Lapointe in 1998; and by 11 brothers and sisters, Armand Lapierre, Ulysses Lapierre, Yvonne Soucy, Beatrice Michaud, Josephine Lapierre, Odiana Lapierre, Dorilda Guerette, Albertine St. Pierre, Fr. Romeo Lapierre, Roland Lapierre and Ulric Lapierre. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. until time of service Monday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 3 p.m. Monday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church with her nephew, the Rev. Roland Soucy, celebrant.
